In its response to the Taliban’s allegations regarding civilian casualties, the Shaheen Corps 209 stated in a statement that the Taliban militants not only lost control of the Khamiyab district of Jowzjan province, but also suffered heavy casualties as well.

The statement added that the Taliban militants are trying to cover up their defeat, due to the alleged civilian casualties during the operation.

The Taliban had earlier claimed that security forces had bombed civilian homes in the area.
