Ali Mushaima is set to continue his hungers strike outside the Bahraini embassy in London despite being hospitalized.

After 30 days without food, the activist fainted on Thursday and tests later showed that he had experienced a sharp drop in blood sugar levels.

Ali has reportedly refused to heed calls by his doctor to end the hunger strike, which he is observing in protest over his father’s ill-treatment in a Bahraini prison.

Ali’s father, Hassan Mushaima, was sentenced to life in prison for his role in the country’s 2011 pro-democracy protests.

The 70-year-old is being denied access to adequate medical treatment for his long list of illnesses while being deprived of his right to receive family visits. Prison authorities are also being accused of destroying his books.
