A new proposal will see the Garden City Mosque receive a $700,000 expansion and renovation after being ravaged by fire in two arson attacks.

The renovations which will meet the growing number of worshipers in Toowoomba, in south-west Queensland, is expected to receive council approval on Thursday.

Upgrades to the mosque, which will accommodate up to 300 worshipers, received only four complaints, reported The Chronicle.

The mosque was hit by two attacks, one in January and the other in April last year, which left the mosque extensively damaged.
