The World Nonviolence Organization, Free Muslim, issued a statement on the occasion of the World Day to Combat Desertification and Drought, in which it called the international community for comprehensive and effective measures to combat and respond to desertification and drought.

The organization said in the statement, “The international community stands in honor of the observance of the World Day to Combat Desertification and Drought, in a clear expression that shows the extent and gravity of this phenomenon humanly and environmentally, especially after the growth of many secretions that were formed due to desertification and drought that hit large parts of the Earth’s surface, which had a direct effect in the formation of this phenomenon, especially after the prevalence of what is known as global warming, as well as the scarcity of arable water, and the deliberate absence of planning and attention by several official systems around the world.”

It added, “Terrorism, violence, extremism, migration, the spread of epidemics and diseases, and a whole range of human and health phenomena are spreading in full swing between human societies, leaving catastrophic consequences that both the close and the distant realize.”

The organization continued, “All need to address the issue of desertification and drought, according to a far-sighted vision that transcends limited interests. “
