Rare Quran manuscripts to be put on display at Islamabad mosque

 A hundred rare manuscripts of the Holy Quran have been gifted to Faisal Masjid in Islamabad, Pakistan. The copies, some dating back to the 14th century, are planned to be put on display for the public in a few days. These sets of Holy Quran copies have been donated by Professor Zahid Butt for Faisal Masjid on the special request of Capital Development (CDA) Member Administration Yasir Pirzada. The manuscripts of the Holy Quran are unique in nature and some are 200 to 700 years old. Pirzada said that these copies of the Holy Quran would be available for public view after 10 days. The Faisal Masjid administration has made arrangements to exhibit these copies. In addition of these rare copies of the Holy Quran, samples of calligraphy would also be placed at the Faisal Masjid for general public, the Express Tribune reported. Pirzada has declared these copies of Holy Quran as the best gift for residents of Islamabad.

Blast kills at least 14 in southern Afghanistan

An explosion has killed and injured scores of people in the city of Lashkar Gah in Afghanistan's restive south, officials say. "A car bomb blast happened at the entrance gate to the sports stadium in the first Police District of Lashkar Gah city," Helmand province's police spokesman Salam Afghan said Friday. Helmand governor spokesman Omar Zwak said the blast killed at least 14 people and injured 47 others. "The explosion happened at a time when spectators were leaving the stadium after the wrestling match had finished," he added. The police spokesman had initially given a toll of two dead and 20 injured. Meanwhile, the Italian NGO Emergency put the death toll at four, with 35 wounded who had been transferred to its hospital in Lashkar Gah.

Bahraini regime forces arrest 29 people in 24 hours

Bahraini forces have reportedly arrested at least 32 people during separate raids on a number of houses across the kingdom in the past 24 hours as the ruling Al Khalifah regime intensifies its heavy-handed crackdown on political dissidents. Bahraini troops stormed the besieged northwestern village of Diraz, situated some 12 kilometers west of the capital Manama, detaining 13 people, including minors, Arabic-language Lualua television reported. Bahraini regime forces had earlier detained more than a dozen political dissidents in the same Bahraini region. Elsewhere in the northern village of Buri, located about 13 kilometers southwest of Manama, Bahraini forces raided a house and ransacked it. They later arrested brothers Abdullah and Mohammed Saleh Mahdi. Local sources noted that the incidents took place as regime soldiers did not have a search or arrest warrant with them.

Four martyred, 14 injured in terrorist rocket attacks on Damascus

Terrorist organizations targeted with 16 rocket shells Damascus neighborhoods, causing the martyrdom of four people and injury of fourteen civilians. A source at Damascus Police Command said that a rocket shell fired by terrorists landed on Abu Remmaneh neighborhood, causing the injury of a woman while material damage occurred as a result of another shell which fell in an agricultural area on the outskirts of Dwilia neighborhood. The source added that the terrorist organizations positioned in Eastern Ghout on Thursday fired three rocket shells on Barzeh district, claiming the lives of two civilians, injuring four others, and causing massive material damage to a number of houses. The terrorist organizations also fired 13 rocket shells fell on residential neighborhoods in Damascus. Two civilians were martyred and nine others injured, the source added. Material damage was caused and fire erupted due to the shells in Arnous, Khalid Ibn al-Walid Street, al-Bahsah and al-Marjeh where Damascus Fire Brigade put out the fire, the source said.

Two civilians martyred, three injured in terrorist attacks in Damascus

A woman and her daughter were martyred and three other civilians were injured due to terrorist attacks with shells on the residential neighborhood of Damascus. A source at Damascus Police Command said that a rocket shell fired by terrorist organizations positioned in Eastern Ghouta landed on civilians’ houses in al-Hajibia area in al-Shaghour neighborhood, claiming the lives of a woman and her daughter. Two other civilians were injured and material damage was caused to properties as a result of a terrorist attack with a rocket shell on al-Dwilia neighborhood. Another shell landed on St. Josef Church in the same neighborhood, causing the injury of a civilian and material damage to the Church. Meanwhile in Jaramana, a source at Damascus Countryside Police Command said that a shell fall in al-Homsi neighborhood in the city, which caused only material damage.

Egypt military says 36 Daesh terrorists killed in Sinai clashes

The Egyptian military says three dozen members of the Daesh Takfiri terrorist group have been killed in the country’s restive Sinai Peninsula over the past five days. The military made the announcement in a statement on Monday, saying Egyptian soldiers and police had killed 36 Daesh terrorists as part of a months-long sweeping operation against the Takfiri outfit in the troubled region. Security forces "eliminated 30 armed Takfiri elements during a shootout with raiding forces" in the northern and central Sinai Peninsula, the statement said. A police shootout also left six "Takfiri elements" dead and destroyed "an extremely dangerous terrorist cell,” it added. The Egyptian military also announced that security forces had arrested 345 people, "including a number of extremely dangerous Takfiri elements and fugitives," in Sinai over the past five days.
