Afghan forces rescue 24 civilians abducted by ISIS militants in Nangarhar province

The Afghan armed forces have rescued 24 civilians who were abducted by militants of the so-called Islamic State of Iraq and Syria Khurasan (ISIS-K) in eastern Nangarhar province.

 

The Afghan armed forces have rescued 24 civilians who were abducted by militants of the so-called Islamic State of Iraq and Syria Khurasan (ISIS-K) in eastern Nangarhar province.

Provincial governor’s spokesman Ataullah Khogyani said ISIS-K militants had abducted 24 civilians of in Chaparhar district earlier today.

Khogyani further added that the hostages were rescued after due to the efforts of the armed forces.

According to Khogyani, at least three ISIS-K militants and a civilian were also wounded during the operation.

ISIS militants are active in some remote districts of Nangarhar province and often attempt to carry out terrorist related activities against the government and security institutions as well as local residents of the province.
