A deadly bomb attack has hit Afghanistan’s eastern city of Jalalabad, killing at least 16 people.

Local officials said on Wednesday that two attackers detonated explosives near the office of a construction company near the airport in Jalalabad, in Afghanistan’s eastern Nangarhar Province.

Sixteen members of the firm were reportedly killed in the attack.

“Two attackers detonated their vests, and two more were gunned down by security forces,” said Attaullah Khogyani, a spokesman for Nangarhar’s governor.

He said clearance operations at the scene still continued.

It was unclear how many people were injured.

There was no immediate claim of responsibility for the attack. But the Taliban militant group has been active in the province. The Daesh terrorist group is also present in Afghanistan.
