Algeria’s Awqaf and Religious Affairs Ministry ordered copies of the Quran containing typing errors be collected from mosques, libraries, Quranic centers and schools across the country.
According to machahid24.com website, the copies, known as Mus’haf al-Haziq al-Saqir have been printed by Ibn al-Hafasi Publications.
The ministry has revoked the publisher’s permission to print Quran copies and ordered measures be taken by related organizations to collect the copies already printed and distributed.
Quran teachers and prayer leaders in different parts of the North African country have reported tens of printing errors in the Mus’haf.
Last year, Algeria said it had stepped up efforts to make sure that the Quran copies printed or distributed in the country contain no typos or other kinds of errors.
