For the third year successively, Bahrain has been ranked as the Arab world’s second worst country with respect to freedom of press.

According to Freedom House, media outlets in Bahrain still suffer from self-censorship and oppression, while journalists who dare write about the sporadic anti-government demonstrations in the kingdom face almost certain arrest. The report comes as hundreds of pro-democracy activists continued to take to the streets to express solidarity with political prisoners and jailed activists.
