On Saturday, Iraq’s security forces, backed by military aircraft and volunteer forces, retook control of al-Sodour dam near the city of Muqdadiyah, some 62 miles northeast of the capital, Baghdad, killing eight terrorists, according to Adnan al-Timimi, head of the town council.

Meanwhile, Iraqi security forces managed to liberate seven villages in Shirween rural area northeast of Muqdadiyah following heavy clashes that killed 10 ISIL militants, said Khudir Muslim, a member of Diyala provincial council.
