Austria plans “standardized” translation of Holy Quran (Austria)

Austria’s foreign minister said the country’s government seeks to create a “standardized” German-language translation of the Holy Quran.

Aslab News reported that the foreign minister said the move is aimed at preventing extremists from misusing the Holy Book.

He referred to the extremist activities carried out in the name of Islam and said Austrian Muslims condemn the misinterpretation of Islam’s Holy Book by extremists and terrorists.

Islam is the second most widely practiced religion in Austria. Around six percent of the country’s population is estimated to be Muslim.
