On the occasion of the martyrdom anniversary of Imam Ja’faar al-Sadiq, peace be upon him, the Eminent Grand Ayatollah Sayed Sadiq Husseini Shirazi, may Allah prolong his life, stressed the marking occasion around the world to promote the Sadiqi culture.
This came during a meeting with high-ranking people in his honorable house in the holy city of Qom.
His Eminence added that marking the occasions of Ahlul Bait, peace be upon them, paves the way to the re-appearance of Imam Mahdi, may Allah hasten his re-appearance.
Imam Jafar Sadiq, peace be upon him, the sixth Imam, attained martyrdom on the 25th of Shawwal in the year 14 AH.
It was during the Caliphate of Abu Jafar Mansoor Abbasi. Imam Sadiq, peace be upon him, lived 65 years. He had the longest life amongst the other Imams, peace be upon them, except Imam Zaman, may Allah hasten his re-appearance Thus, he is also called the Sheikh-ul-Aimma.
