Course held for enhancing Iraqi qaris’ skills

A year-long course for improving Quran recitation skills of Iraqi qaris concluded in the holy city of Karbala.

 

A year-long course for improving Quran recitation skills of Iraqi qaris concluded in the holy city of Karbala.

The Dar-ol-Quran center of Imam Hussein holy shrine held the program at the city’s al-Hur al-Saqir district.

According to the website of the holy shrine, its last session was held on Friday.

A total of 40 Qaris took the course, Ali Aboud al-Taei, head of the holy shrine’s Quran Teaching Department said, adding that it was held one day a week for a year.

He added that it included specialized lessons on different Quranic sciences.

Taei went on to say that all of the participants received certificates of attendance.

Quranic activities have significantly developed in Iraq since the 2003 overthrow of former dictator Saddam Hussein.

There has been a growing trend of Quranic programs such as competitions, recitation sessions and educational programs held in the country in recent years.
