Quran memorization plan begins in Iraq

Iraq’s first national Quran memorization plan titled “Imamayn Askariyayn” got underway in Samarra, north of the country.

 

 

Iraq’s first national Quran memorization plan titled “Imamayn Askariyayn” got underway in Samarra, north of the country.

According to media, Heydar Mayahi, an official with the commitee tasked with implementing the plan, said that 100 students from different provinces of the country have participated in the national Quranic event.

The daily programs of for the participants include memorization of the Holy Quran’s verses after making the pilgrimage to the holy shrines in Samarra and reading the pilgrimage supplication of the two infallible Imams, peace be upon them, in the morning.

The participants review the memorized Quranic verses and practice new lessons in the evening.

Congregational prayers at the holy shrines and sport activities are among other parts of the two-month plan.

Quranic activities have significantly developed in Iraq since the 2003 overthrow of former dictator Saddam Hussein.
